MMK Receives 7 Awards at Metal-Expo 2022
PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) and MMK Group companies received multiple awards for their high-tech product developments at the 28th International Industrial Exhibition Metal-Expo 2022.
This year, MMK won a gold medal for its joint project with the Bardin Central Research Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy (TsNIIchermet) and the pipe manufacturing company Uraltrubprom on the development of end-to-end technology to produce strip rolled products and electric-welded pipes of strength class K52 and resistant to corrosive environments. Elsewhere, Magnitogorsk Rolling Mill Plant (MZPV, part of MMK Group) received a silver award in partnership with the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University and the CNIITMASH research institute for mechanical engineering for the joint development of a series of initiatives to diversify production at MZPV.
Magnitogorsk Hardware and Sizing Plant (MMK-METIZ, part of MMK Group), which hosted its own stand at the Metal-Expo, got four awards at the event. These included a gold medal for the production of M16x35 hexagonal head bolts as part of MMK’s import substitution initiative, and a silver medal for the production of steel wire for mechanical springs that serves as a substitute for steel wire produced under European Standard.
The MMK-METIZ team also received two laureate diplomas for mastering the production of copper-coated and uncoated welding wire for welding large-diameter pipes, as well as for developing jointly with TsNIIchermet an end-to-end technology to produce high-strength fasteners made of special alloyed steels using the cold forming method, which are intended for use in automobile construction.
On the final day of the exhibition, MMK got a laureate diploma and a cup in the “Best Exposition” category, with Metal-Expo 2022 organisers highlighting the unique design and informative content of MMK’s stand.
The Metal-Expo organising committee awards gold and silver medals to the best-performing companies and organisations at the exhibition. Its aim is to highlight outstanding work by production, research and development teams in developing and launching technologies that meet modern technical standards, as well as to recognize excellence in the production of new, high-quality metal products.
