MMK Presents Its High-Strength Steel for the Mining Industry

Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works is taking part in the 30th International Exhibition of Mining Technologies "Russian Coal and Mining - 2022", which is taking place 7-10 June in Novokuznetsk.

MMK's stand presents the Company’s range of high-strength and wear-resistant steels and respective steel products marketed under the MAGSTRONG brand. These import-substituting steels are used in the manufacture and repair of construction, quarrying and other special machinery, loaded steel structures, rock-processing and shaft-sinking equipment, as well as other high-tech products.

MAGSTRONG steels are already widely used by major Russian mining companies and machinery and equipment manufacturers. These steels provide a significant reduction in weight as well as major economic benefits. The use of these products not only improves product quality, but also reduces the environmental impact: as a result of replacing common steel grades and taking into account emissions throughout the entire product life cycle, greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by an average of 30%.

Several of the MMK Group's companies make up its large exhibition stand. MMK-COAL, MMK’s coal mining subsidiary, will introduce visitors to the Zh-grade coking coal mono-concentrate used in the steel industry and having unique properties. Mekhanoremontny Kompleks LLC will present its capabilities in processing rolled metal products from MAGSTRONG high-strength steels. MMK-METIZ will present its welding wire of alloyed steel grades under the MagWire brand, intended for automatic and semi-automatic arc welding of low-alloy high-strength structural steel in a mixture of shielding gases. These products are part of a comprehensive package offered by MMK and MMK-METIZ to supply customers with rolled products made of MAGSTRONG steels, as well as accompanying welding materials and recommendations on welding process parameters.

"Russian Coal and Mining" is one of the world's largest coal and mining forums. Around 425 companies from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of companies from the UK, Germany, Italy, China, Poland, Turkey, France, the Czech Republic and Japan will present their products, equipment, machinery and technology at the exhibition, which spans an area of more than 50,000 square metres. Two professional events, the 12th Occupational Health, Labour Protection and Safety Exhibition and the 7th Russian Subsoil Exhibition, will also take place as part of the mining forum. The organisers have prepared a comprehensive business programme with over 60 events involving representatives of the state, regulatory and supervisory authorities, coal industry organisations, and the scientific and expert community.
