MMK discusses further steps in transition to domestic it solutions
Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), which has been gradually increasing the amount of Russian-made software in its IT landscape, discussed further steps in its transition to domestic solutions at a meeting with Astra Group representatives in Magnitogorsk on 11 April 2024.
Astra Group is one of the top companies in the Russian IT market and a leading manufacturer of system and infrastructure software. MMK is implementing a number of projects as part of its import substitution programme, including its transition to an Astra Linux operating system with built-in information security tools. Around 500 workstations at the Company’s coke production facility have already migrated to the Astra Linux operating system.
“In our transition to domestic IT solutions, we made a conscious choice to use solutions from the Astra Group ecosystem, whose flagship product is the Astra Linux OS. We need a comprehensive package of interconnected domestic products that can be seamlessly integrated into our IT infrastructure to meet our core requirements. Another advantage of these solutions is that they are constantly updated and supported by the manufacturer,” said Vadim Feoktistov, MMK’s Chief IT Specialist.
Representatives of MMK Group and of other invited IT companies in Magnitogorsk discussed new opportunities and prospects for further cooperation with Astra Group in the current environment and outlined potential avenues for collaborative developments.
