MMK Awarded at Competition Held by Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) received two awards and a certificate of recognition at a nationwide competition held by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), called "Leaders of Russian Business: Dynamics, Responsibility, Sustainability - 2022".

MMK was awarded in the categories "For Environmentally Responsible Business" and "For Support of Employees with Families, Motherhood and Childhood". The Company also received a certificate of recognition in the “Digitalisation Project” category for its “Optimal Iron” automated information system, a comprehensive solution created with the participation of MMK specialists to improve the efficiency of the first stage of the plant’s metallurgical production process.

In 2022, MMK Group's main environmental focus was on implementing measures in the areas of air protection and emissions reduction, waste recycling, and the preservation and enhancement of biodiversity in the region where it operates. In the social sphere, the Company continued its initiatives to ensure a quality and comfortable standard of living in the region not only for its employees and their families, but also for all Magnitogorsk residents, including through the work of its Metallurg Charitable Foundation. MMK is also systematically engaged in the development of both communal and social infrastructure in Magnitogorsk and neighbouring areas.

"Last year was difficult for Russian industry as a whole, and for our plant in particular. Nevertheless, MMK remained faithful to its recently adopted strategy aimed at taking care of people and the environment. We have implemented several significant projects and continue to work actively in the area of sustainable development, which we view as a systemic and long-term effort. Against this backdrop, we value the recognition from our colleagues in the RSPP, and we hope that our experience will work to the benefit of the industry," said MMK CEO Pavel Shilyaev.

This year's RSPP competition received 287 applications in the economic and social categories from companies representing almost all sectors of the economy – from metallurgy and chemistry to engineering and logistics. The awards ceremony will be held on 26 May 2023, on Russian Entrepreneurship Day.
