MMK named among winners of Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs competition

Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) is among the winners of the Russian national competition “Flagships of Business: Dynamics, Responsibility, Sustainability – 2023” held by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP). The Company won in the category “For development of human resources potential” and was also recognised in the following other categories:

- “For achievements in occupational health and safety;”

- “For support of employees with family responsibilities, family, maternity and childhood;”

- “For sustainable business;”

- “For a notable import substitution project.”

“Recognition from our colleagues at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs is clear evidence that MMK’s strategy, which is based on balancing business interests and sustainable development principles, is a success and bearing fruit. Each year, the Company allocates billions of roubles towards social support for its employees and their families, and is also implementing a large-scale environmental programme. This systematic work not only contributes to the development of the Company and its human resources potential, but also improves the quality of life in the regions where we operate,” said MMK CEO Pavel Shilyaev.

In 2023 alone, the Company’s investments in charity projects and social programmes amounted to approximately RUB 3.4 billion. A further 19 billion roubles were allocated by the Company to various environmental protection measures.

The Russian national competition “Flagships of Business: Dynamics, Responsibility, Sustainability” is held annually to promote sustainable business development, which is in line with Russia’s long-term economic interests, and to identify dynamically developing companies based on their economic, social and environmental performance.
