MMK Retains Top Position Among Flat and Coated Steel Producers
Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) was once again ranked as the top manufacturer of flat products, and galvanised and coated steel by the leading industry magazine Metal Supply and Sales, in its rating of the best Russian metal products manufacturers and suppliers for the second half of 2022.
The rating looked at Russian manufacturers and traders of ferrous and non-ferrous metal products. It was compiled on the basis of questionnaire responses from buyers of metal products, survey results among metal market experts, and a comprehensive analysis of companies’ operations. In determining the rating leaders, the magazine considered business development trends, supply volumes, level of service, product quality, and the reliability of the supplier in terms of fulfilling contractual obligations and transparency.
MMK’s top score across two categories of the rating reflects the Company’s targeted, long-term efforts to achieve leading positions in key segments. These include the development of state-of-the-art, high-performance capacities for the production of high-margin rolled products and coated steel.
MMK’s “Focus on Customers” initiative was an important factor in its success in the rating. As part of the Company’s development strategy, this initiative aims to boost sales through MMK’s own sales network, improve service, further develop digital sales channels and enhance the Company’s logistics system. Since April 2021, MMK has been operating a corporate marketplace that closes the gap to the end consumer by providing quick and efficient online service for orders across a wide range of products. Thanks to its efforts to ensure on-time sales, MMK last year raised its OTIF (on time in full) delivery performance to the highest level in the industry, at 85%.
Metal Supply and Sales also named MMK among the top five producers of long products in its rating. In addition, two MMK Group companies were included in the magazine’s list of industry leaders: MMK-METIZ placed second in the rating of metalware manufacturers, and MMK Trading House took third place among the top metallurgical trading companies.
