MMK Hosts Russian IT Developers to Discuss Import Substitution

MMK hosted a seminar in Magnitogorsk for software and hardware developers to discuss potential joint projects in import substitution in line with the Company’s priorities.

Leading national software development companies presented their solutions and IT products across various business areas, against the backdrop of growing demand for domestic providers. MMK and company representatives also discussed the compatibility of domestic solutions with one another and with existing software. Participants considered the potential challenges in installing and operating the software at a large industrial enterprise that houses critical information infrastructure, as well as how these challenges could be addressed.

Participants additionally exchanged views on the information security landscape, shared best practices for countering cyberattacks and discussed trends in terms of IT threats. Natalia Kasperskaya, President of InfoWatch Group and Chair of the Management Board of an association of domestic software developers, spoke about existing risks and how to confront them.

MMK is one of the leading companies in Russia’s metals and mining industry in terms of digital transformation. The Company views the integration of new digital solutions as an ongoing process that will ultimately increase its efficiency and market competitiveness.

“MMK’s digitalisation strategy is practical in nature and is based on a comprehensive assessment of business needs,” said Pavel Shilyaev, CEO of MMK. “Digitalisation involves all of MMK’s business processes. It increases productivity and improves product quality, ensures the safety of employees and the efficiency of their activities, eliminates routine tasks, and helps meet our customers’ expectations and time requirements.”

The stable operation of the Company’s IT systems is a critical factor in ensuring that MMK’s business continues to operate as usual – particularly in the current environment, where the Russian state and market are increasingly focusing on import substitution. That is why the Company is taking prompt measures to transition to domestic software, strengthen the security of its IT infrastructure and ensure its fault tolerance in light of current IT development trends.
