MMK awarded ‘Honorary Benefactor’ status in regional competition
Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) was named among the winners of the social achievements competition “Changing the World” in the category of “Honorary Benefactor.”
The Legislative Assembly of the Chelyabinsk Region awarded the winners of the competition, which has been held for over 20 years. The participants typically include organisations and institutions that implement social and charitable projects in the Chelyabinsk Region.
The winners of the competition are selected across six categories: “Honorary Benefactor,” “Charitable Activities of Commercial Organisations and Individual Entrepreneurs,” “Best Employer,” “Charitable and Voluntary (Volunteer) Activities of Non-Profit Organisations,” “Best Charity Projects” and “Volunteer of the Year” (the last category was introduced in 2022).
The category of “Honorary Benefactor” was created especially for corporate entities, many of which participate in and win the competition every year. These include MMK, which for many years continues to maintain its status of a city-forming enterprise and a socially oriented company that voluntarily takes on a number of social obligations towards its employees, partners and the broader community. Last year alone, MMK allocated over RUB 3.4 billion to charity, social programmes and the development of the regions where it operates.
Other enterprises of MMK group were named among the winners of the 2024 “Changing the World” competition. The equipment manufacturer Mekhano-Remontny Kompleks (MRK) and the Magnitogorsk Metalware and Calibration Plant (MMK METIZ) were awarded in the “The Best Employer” category. The Metallurg Charitable Foundation, whose main benefactor is MMK, was named among the best in the category “Charitable and Voluntary (Volunteer) Activities of Non-Profit Organisations.”
