MMK Shares Its Achievements in Industrial Tourism at Norilsk Forum

Marina Korneva, a specialist at the Strategy and Development Department of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), spoke about the Company's experience in the field of industrial tourism at the interregional forum Arctic Tourism Week in Norilsk.

Today, MMK is a recognised leader in industrial hospitality practices. The Company's achievements in this area have been appreciated not only by the tourists who have visited MMK’s production site but by the professional community at large.

In 2022, MMK was visited by a record 11,320 tourists. This is a 1.5-fold increase over 2019, when COVID-19 related restrictions had still not been put into place. During the pandemic, MMK began to offer virtual tours via various online platforms.

Also in 2022, the company launched Russia's first centre for the development of industrial tourism, which was created jointly with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) and the government of the Chelyabinsk Region. The centre trains specialised tour guides and serves as a platform for professional exchange.

MMK currently offers seven tourist routes designed for adults and children, as well as routes adapted for visitors with disabilities. These include a route called "Legends and Stories of the Steel River", which gives visitors the opportunity to see the legendary MMK plant from a boat trip on the Ural River.
