MMK and Attraction urban project win business impact awards

The ceremony to honour this year’s winners of the Hard Signs business impact awards, presented by the publication Kommersant-South Urals, was held in Chelyabinsk on 15 September 2023. Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and an urban project, Attraction, were among the winners.

The Hard Signs awards are major prizes given out by the Kommersant publishing house in the regions where it operates. The awards aim to recognise companies that have carried out the most impactful business projects and demonstrated leadership in their sectors.

This year, the Hard Signs awards ceremony was held in Chelyabinsk for the second time. The selection of nominees and winners was based on the number of positive mentions in national media in the context of newsworthy events associated with each category. This year’s awards were based on media mentions published between 1 August 2021 and 31 July 2023.

Winners were selected across six categories. MMK was named the winner in the Personnel Response category, which recognises companies that have incorporated effective solutions to staffing shortages, an acute problem facing the entire labour market, and that have made the news on the pages of Kommersant and other publications.

The Iconic Facilities category recognises the driving forces behind new spaces, buildings and structures created through private investment and that are having an impact on an area’s image and quality of life. The winner in this category was the Attraction urban resort, an extraordinary project aimed at transforming the urban environment in Magnitogorsk. Viktor Rashnikov, Chairman of MMK’s Board of Directors, initiated the project and is its main investor. Attraction’s first and second phases began operating in 2022 and 2023, respectively. The project’s standout feature is that it enables Magnitogorsk residents to enjoy a resort holiday without leaving the city.
