MMK recognised among winners of Leader of Competitive Purchases award
188 companies representing all sectors of the Russian economy were considered for the award. The winners were chosen by a public committee of 70 independent experts. This year, MMK submitted a project titled “Transformation of the procurement system with the involvement of external consultants" to the award committee. This is the company’s largest modernisation project in the procurement field in recent years, implemented jointly with the A.T. Kearney consulting company.
The project began in April 2017 and is currently in its final stages. Global changes in business processes and the organisational structure of MMK supply systems have already been implemented: the category approach to selecting a supplier, for which category teams have been created, is prioritised. For the first time this year, experts from the award’s public committee visited the MMK production site and became acquainted with the innovations.
The Leader of Competitive Purchases award is the first professional contest in the trade and procurement field. It has been held since 2012, uniting purchasers, government representatives, the media and public organisations. The purpose of the award is to draw attention to the most significant projects in the field of procurement, which increase the efficiency of companies and make a significant contribution to the development of the entire market.
MMK is a regular participant and laureate of the Leader of Competitive Purchases award. In 2014, the company won a prize in the “Economic efficiency of procurement operations” category. In 2015, Sergey Ushakov, Deputy General Director of Commerce, received a special award for the development and optimisation of procurement activities. The following year, the company was among winners in the “Leader of innovations in trade and procurement activities” category. Last year, MMK became the winner in the “Economic efficiency of procurement operations” category.
