MMK’s Mill 2000 produces its 10 millionth tonne of rolled metal

Mill 2000 has a production capacity of 2,100,000 tonnes per year and is a key element of PJSC MMK’s new cold-rolling complex at sheet rolling facility No. 11. The main purpose of the complex is to produce high-quality cold-rolled and galvanised steel to be used as internal and external cars parts, as well as in the construction industry and by manufacturers of household appliances.

According to President Vladimir Putin, who took part in the launch of the complex, the unit has not just great regional but also national value. “This really is a major event, not just for MMK but for all Russian metallurgy and the country’s automotive industry,” emphasized Vladimir Putin.

The complex was commissioned in two stages, the first stage included Mill 2000 and the continuous pickling line, which went into operation in 2011. A year later the second stage of the complex was completed, it included a continuous hot-dip galvanizing unit and combined hot-dip galvanizing and annealing unit.

In the years following the launch, the complex’s products have been rated highly by the country’s car manufactures; both the traditional domestic companies - AvtoVAZ, GAZ, UAZ and KAMAZ, as well as foreign car manufactures who have localized their production in Russia, such as Ford, Volkswagen, Renault, and Nissan.
