UiPath highlights MMK's achievements in software robotics (RPA)

The conference "RPA DAY!" dedicated to the technology of software robotics took place in early March 2019. About 140 people attended the conference which was organized by QIWI. Heads of RPA of large Russian and international companies were invited as speakers. They shared their progress and achievements in this area and also discussed the problems associated with creating software robots.

The Center of Competence RPA and Innovation was created at MMK-Informservice (a subsidiary of MMK Group which is involved in IT) in July 2018. In September, it launched the first software robot at MMK. "The worldwide practices of using business robotics using RPA technology which we have studied show the high efficiency of this tool on the way to digital business transformation, which is the basis of the industry 4.0 concept - the concept of strategic development of MMK", said Vadim Feoktistov, the Director of MMK-Informservice.

To further develop and apply RPA technologies at MMK Group, the project on the diagnostics of business process was implemented and conducted together with external consultants. As a result of the project, the processes suitable for automation were identified, recommendations for the modernization and expansion of the Centre of Competence were received. Software robots will be developed independently by the RPA Centre of Competence at MMK-Informservice.

Mikhail Veresov, the head of the RPA Centre of Competence and Innovation, told a brief history of the сentre at the conference. An important part of the report was the information about the automation of the cross-functional business process related to paying for scrap metal. Fourteen software robots are involved in this process – from analysing e-mails with documents from suppliers to preparing documents in online banking. Digital employees use common software interfaces to do the job instead of a human being. These automated processes allow the company to free up time for employees to focus on more complicated tasks that require human input.

“I would like to highlight the choice of the correct, from our point of view, strategic approach to the implementation of automation at the MMK Group. The implemented process related to paying for scrap metal is very complex and multi-step, involving several divisions within the MMK Group. We are very pleased that the specialists of the RPA Centre of Competence were able to quickly automate it on their own and believe in the further potential of our colleagues to digitalize the plant", said Artem Vinogradov, Sales Director at UiPath Russia.
