Deputy Prime Minister praises MMK’s unique Attraction project
The Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by Vladimir Yakushev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Urals Federal District, and Alexey Texler, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region. The guests were informed on the progress of the Attraction Park project in Magnitogorsk which is being implemented on the initiative and with the support of Victor Rashnikov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MMK. The development project covers an area of about 400 hectares owned by the plant. Among the key objects being built at the new park there are a museum and educational complex, a children's indoor amusement park, a fitness centre with a 50-metre swimming pool, an indoor ice arena and a 4-star hotel. In addition, a landscaped park area with an artificial pond will be created on the territory, as well as a modern multidisciplinary medical centre.
As Victor Rashnikov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MMK, noted, today both the plant and the city have entered a very significant period of their development, and the large-scale modernisation of MMK facilities is not the only item on the agenda. "We are concerned not only with production issues. We are equally interested in developing a high-quality urban environment, in creating truly comfortable living and recreational conditions for all residents of Magnitogorsk without exception. I am without doubt very pleased that the Attraction project has received considerate federal and regional support. The large-scale modernisation project of Magnitogorsk airport was also supported at the federal level, " Victor Rashnikov noted.
The guests also visited MMK's production site, where they saw the upgraded blast furnace No. 2, the modern hot-rolling mill 5000 and cold-rolling mill 2000. It was noted that the main focus of technical refitting at MMK is to use the best available technologies and to achieve environmental safety. MMK's new production facilities, which were shown to Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, already meet these goals, as do the newly built sinter plant No. 5, coke oven battery No. 12 which is currently under construction, and as will the new blast furnace.
At the end of the visit, Marat Khusnullin congratulated Victor Rashnikov on the finished and future projects, noting: "I am delighted with what I have seen and the scale of what has been done – both in terms of metal production and construction. This is a huge investment and a lot of work." Victor Rashnikov, in turn, thanked Marat Khusnullin, Vladimir Yakushev and Alexey Texler for their comprehensive assistance, which supports Magnitogorsk in reaching new levels of economic and social development.
