MMK’s hot-rolled products Mill 2000 sets another record

MMK’s hot-rolled products Mill 2000 is one of the most powerful facilities in Russia. It is located at MMK’s sheet-rolling shop No 10 and was modernised in the mid-2000s when the fourth heat treating furnace was built and equipment was upgraded. The modernisation made it possible to produce thicker products, improve the mechanical characteristics of the products, and increase the mill’s capacity to 6 mln tonnes per year. In the past few years, the mill has operated at its maximum capacity utilisation rate. In 2015, it produced its 100th mln tonne since commissioning. The mill’s equipment makes it possible to produce the full range of MMK steel grades.

Sheet width varies from 760 mm to 1,830 mm. The mill produces thousands of different products for various industries including pipes, construction, and machinery manufacturing and represents the widest product mix at MMK. Steel produced at Mill 2000 is used in shipbuilding, construction and car manufacturing.
