MMK to present its innovation projects during Metal-Expo

MMK is a long-time participant of Russia's largest metallurgical and industrial forum. MMK's stand is traditionally one of the largest and most comprehensive exhibits at Metal-Expo. It will present the products and technological capabilities of about ten companies comprising MMK Group, including Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works.

MMK produces the widest range of metal products for various purposes in the CIS. Stand-outs among the company's product line include high-strength and wear-resistant import-substituting steels manufactured under the MAGSTRONG brand. This type of steel is used to produce and repair construction, quarry and other specialty machinery, loaded steel constructions, as well as in the manufacture of equipment for processing rocks and of shaft-sinking and other types of high-tech products.

Products made of 0H9 cryogenic steel sheets are also currently manufactured under the MAGSTRONG brand. This type of steel is able to withstand ultra-low temperature conditions and is used in the production, storage and transportation of liquefied and compressed natural gas. These products are also import-substituting.

The products of MMK-Lysvensky Metallurgical Plant, which produces a unique product line for Russia, will also be presented at the exhibition: electrogalvanized rolled products and rolled products with polymeric coating with Print technology. In particular, MMK will present premium types of rolled products with polymer coating produced under the SteelArt and Moire brands. These products consist of a metal base with a three-layer polymer coating, which accurately imitates the look and feel of natural materials - such as stone, wood, brick and others - while being much cheaper and easier to install.

A highlight of MMK's appearance at the forum will be the demonstration of the innovative technological product Modular Passive Industrial Exoskeleton EXORISE at the MMK stand. Models of exoskeletons will be presented both on mannequins and on employees of the company, as well as on representatives of the R&D Center of the Magnitogorsk State Technical University and Actris. The initiative to create exoskeletons for representatives of the most labour-intensive metallurgical specialties, such as doorways of coke batteries or the furnace blast furnace shop, was launched by the management of MMK. The manufacture of exoskeletons entailed creating mathematical models of a person performing various technological operations. Passive industrial exoskeletons, reinforced with elements of high-strength MAGSTRONG steel, can dramatically reduce the load on the knee, shoulder, hip and elbow joints, as well as on the lumbar spine. In addition, the productivity of workers is significantly increased. The resulting exoskeleton models have been successfully tested at MMK's operating production site and are now entering the market as a commercial product.

The international industrial exhibition Metal-Expo 2019 is taking place from 12 to 15 November in Moscow at VDNKh. The full range of products of ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy, modern equipment and technologies are presented at the event. The exhibition will be attended by 570 companies from 34 countries. Organizers expect that the event will be attended by more than 30 thousand people. The business program of the exhibition includes about 50 conference events, seminars and round tables on all segments of the metallurgical business, as well as various competitions. MMK will also participate in a variety of Metal-Expo events.
