MMK’s record-breaking mill raises the bar

The previous record was set in 2014, when the Mill produced 5,930 thousand tonnes of hot-rolled steel. In January 2015, the Mill also set a monthly output record when it produced 526 thousand tonnes of metal.

MMK’s hot-rolled products Mill 2000 is one of the most impressive and state-of-art facilities in Russia. Its equipment makes it possible to produce the full range of steel grades. Sheet width varies from 760 mm to 1,830 mm. The Mill 2000 produces the broadest range of products of any MMK plant and includes around 1,000 items. The Mill produces steel for various industries including pipes, construction, and machinery manufacturing. Shipbuilding, structural and transformer steel is also rolled here, and the Mill produces rolled products that are used in automotive sheet production.

In June 2015, the Mill 2000 produced its 100 millionth tonne of steel since its commissioning in
1994.
