Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich discusses support measures for metals industry at MMK
Arkady Dvorkovich held a meeting at Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works dedicated to development plans and key issues of the iron and steel industry in 2016.
Topics for discussion included measures required to support the metal industry. Participants drew attention to anti-dumping probes into Russian companies, which have become increasingly frequent in the past few months. The Deputy Prime Minister said that Russia would work with its international partners to find a compromise. Support will be provided for Russian metals exports as part of joint investment projects in foreign countries.
Meeting participants also noted that the Government and metal companies would work with infrastructure monopolies to approve long-term rules for mutually beneficial cooperation. Also discussed was import substitution of high-margin metals supplied to Russia from neighbouring markets. Another agenda item was promising sector technologies and training of personnel for the iron and steel sector.
The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries and government agencies, as well as metal companies and organisations including MMK, Severstal, Evraz Group, Mechel, NLMK, ChEMK, ChelPipe, OMK, TMK, Metalloinvest, the Central Research Institute for Ferrous Metallurgy and the Foundation for Development of the Tube Industry.
