MMK to present innovative cryogenic steel at INNOPROM
At the exhibition, MMK will present technology which has been developed at the plant in 2018 for the production of rolled sheet cryogenic steel grade 0H9, which is widely used in the production, storage and transportation of liquefied and compressed natural gas.
The level of cryogenic properties in steel grade 0H9 corresponds to that of austenitic steels (stainless). It is stronger and cheaper than analogues, which makes it popular in the implementation of projects with cryogenic equipment, construction of transportation and for the use and storage of compressed and liquefied natural gas. These characteristics are confirmed by test results. MMK is ready to conduct further tests on steel grade 0H9 for cyclic operation in a cryogenic environment and for corrosion resistance.
Today, more and more leading Russian oil and gas companies are expressing interest in developing the potential of LNG technology. At the same time, the equipment used for transportation and storage of LNG (tanks, pipelines, etc.) must withstand conditions of ultra-low temperatures - up to -200C. Currently, such products are mainly supplied from abroad, so MMK's steel grade 0H9 is an import-substituting product. Its foreign counterparts are TU 14-101-1082-2016 – X8Ni9+NT640, X8Ni9+QT640, X8Ni9+QT680, X7Ni9 and EN 10028-4; ASTM A353 A353/A353M; A553 TYPE I, ASTM A553/A553M; SL9N520NNT, SL9N590Q, JIS G 3127.
The 10th International Industrial Exhibition INNOPROM 2019 is being held from 8 to 10 July at the International Exhibition Centre Ekaterinburg – EXPO. Traditionally the main topics of the forum are the latest technological developments in the industry and topical issues regarding the development of the innovation market. As part of the event, the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS-2019) will also be held at the International Exhibition Centre Ekaterinburg - EXPO from 9 - 11 July. The main topic will be natural technology: biomimetic design and bionics. The goal of GMIS 2019 is to emphasise the importance of using strategies and schemes created by nature in order to combine innovative solutions and environmentally sound design. The summit will be attended by MMK representative delegation.
