MMK’s Human Resources Development recognised by Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs

The awards ceremony took place in Moscow on 7 February 2018 as part of RSPP’s Russian Business Week. This is not the first time that MMK has received an award for its personnel policy – the company was also awarded the prize for “Personnel Development” at the annual industry competition for the most socially effective facility in the mining and metal sector.

“At MMK, Magnitogorsk’s largest employer since the foundation of the city, we have developed a unique synergy of traditions, experience and the most advanced production technologies. In accordance with decisions made by MMK’s management and shareholders, more than RUB 200 million are invested annually in the development of our human resources. This is not just an investment in production – it is an investment in the future of the region, and is one of the key elements of the company’s social responsibility strategy,” said MMK’s HR director, Oleg Kiykov.

In addition to traditional personnel training tools such as the CEO’s School, the Corporate University, the Young Specialists School, and extensive distance training programmes, MMK has also begun developing a complex for practical training in industrial occupational health and safety. The company regularly holds competitions for employees to demonstrate their professional skills and managerial training, which are becoming even more effective with the introduction of the latest digital technologies. At least 500 graduates from Magnitogorsk’s educational institutions join the ranks of the company each year.

The high level of development of MMK’s personnel is also evidenced by the fact that in the recent ranking of the world’s best employers, compiled by Forbes, the company was the highest-ranked Russian employer. This rating was based on criteria such as company image and working conditions, and which came from surveys filled out by the employees themselves.
