MMK virtual tours: past and present

Hot-rolling mill 4500 produced by the German company Krupp on the order of Tsar Nicholas II started running at the Nikopol-Mariupol plant in 1914. At the very beginning of the Great Patriotic War, it was evacuated to Magnitogorsk to the MMK plant, where it promptly began producing armour plate, a special-purpose metal which the country needed like oxygen. Subsequently, more than 50,000 Soviet tanks built during the war were outfitted in Magnitogorsk armour. The labour contribution of Magnitogorsk metallurgists to the Great Victory received a worthy assessment in July of this year when the President of Russia awarded Magnitogorsk the honorary title "City of Labour Valour". Partly, this happened thanks to the legendary mill 4500.

Fr om the fascinating tour, you can learn that the mill works on to this day and that its technical characteristics allow MMK to make products that are in demand on the market today. Find out facts about history, bridges and ships in the new virtual tour of MMK, as well as why birch brooms are needed in rolling production.

In July of this year MMK started implementing the MMK-Tour: Virtual tours of MMK.

The first virtual tour of the "Victory Route" historical cycle was dedicated to Magnitogorsk’s first square, Komsomolskaya Square, wh ere the MMK central office building, the factory’s management buildings and the first passageway are located. This virtual excursion has received a large number of positive responses, which inspired the creation of new tours at MMK.
