MMK starts installation of new turbine at its power plant
The unit was produced at the Ural Turbine Works and is equipped with the latest automatic control system for operating in optimal modes whilst reducing energy costs. In particular, it reduces the specific heat consumption for the production of one kilowatt of energy, which consequently will reduce natural gas consumption and increase the plant’s overall efficiency. The service life of the new turbine Т-42/50-2,9 is a minimum of 40 years.
A 50MW generator for the turbine, produced by the Novosibirsk Research and Production Association ELSIB, also arrived at the plant’s industrial site. The capacity of this turbo-generator is twice as high as that of the previous unit, which will increase the installed electric capacity of the plant.
The installation of the new turbine will begin in the near future. This will be followed by the installation of the piping, auxiliary equipment and commissioning. The launch of the new energy-generating equipment is scheduled for the end of 2018, and will optimise the plant’s efficiency, significantly increasing the reliability and the performance of the plant’s entire power system.
