MMK spends nearly RUB 1.5 billon on social and charitable programmes in H1 2023

In the first six months of 2023, MMK Group spent RUB 1.48 billion on social and charitable programmes. The Company’s spending focused mainly on three areas: social benefits and guarantees for employees, the development of the regions where it operates, and the implementation of charitable programmes.

MMK Group allocated RUB 884 million for employee benefits in the first six months of the year. The Company’s benefits package includes healthcare options covered by the corporate health insurance programme, treatment for employees at health resorts, holidays for employees’ children, the promotion of sports and healthy lifestyles, the provision of meals for employees and the organisation of cultural events.

The Company launched a new high-tech healthcare programme for staff this year that enables employees to conclude a contract directly with a corporate insurance partner to receive high-tech medical care. A number of non–pre-existing conditions are covered as insured events, including malignant tumours, heart conditions requiring surgery, organ and tissue transplants, joint replacements and many others. This insurance costs RUB 4,200 per employee per year, with the employer covering half of the premiums. Care under the high-tech programme may be provided at specialised healthcare facilities not only in nearby regions but also at clinics in Moscow and St Petersburg, and the insured amount is RUB 1.2 million.

Another important target of the Company’s social investments was the development of its regions of operations. In the first half of 2023, MMK Group invested RUB 369 million in cultural, sports and healthcare facilities in Magnitogorsk. Notably, funds were allocated for the development of sports facilities and the hosting of national-level competitions. As part of its ongoing support for healthcare institutions in Magnitogorsk, MMK invested funds to develop the Central Clinical Health Centre. In July 2023, the Centre’s urology department reopened following renovations. MMK also financed high-quality repairs, the installation of state-of-the-art medical equipment, and the outfitting of comfortable patient wards and new operating theatres. Repairs on the registration area of the Centre’s polyclinic No. 2 were also completed this year. Two other much-needed medical centres were launched earlier: a rehabilitation centre (in July 2022) and a cardiology centre (in February of this year). In terms of equipment and level of care, they are among the best in the Ural Federal District.

MMK allocated RUB 231 million for charitable programmes in the first half of 2023. These funds were used to support retired workers, education programmes, and mothers and children.

MMK Group’s consistently high level of social investment reflects its top priority: to be a socially responsible and sustainable company. MMK provides comprehensive long-term social support for employees and their families as well as for residents of the regions where it operates. The Company’s efforts have not gone unnoticed in the expert community. At the end of 2022, for example, MMK was the top-ranked company in the Social Policy and Personnel section in Expert magazine’s sustainability ranking and was also the leader in several employer ratings. In 2022, the Company was a finalist at the Investors in People Awards, a prestigious international competition for HR work.
