MMK takes part in Smart Mining & Metals forum

Personnel from Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) took part in the 2024 Smart Mining & Metals forum in Moscow. Together with their counterparts from other steelmakers, they discussed issues relating to import substitution in respect of enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms.

This year marks 20 years since MMK, as one the first companies in the industry to automate all its production and business processes, introduced its Company-wide ERP system. The platform is used by 15 Group companies and over 10 thousand users, and provides a variety of services and functions that were developed in response to specific requests or to meet particular requirements.

“We are carefully studying the domestic ERP systems that are available, looking for a solution that, in terms of functionality and performance, would enable MMK and Group companies to carry out the processes and tasks that they need to carry out. It is important for us that the developer be able to provide solutions that remain operational even when the system is facing a great deal of strain,” said Sergey Feofanov, Senior Manager for ERP Development at MMK-Informservice.

The transition to a domestic ERP solution is a key objective of MMK’s strategic import substitution programme.

Smart Mining & Metals 2024 is an expert platform for discussing and exchanging experience on key issues and current problems of digitalisation in the context of technological sovereignty, as well as on the introduction of import-independent IT systems and industrial automation tools by iron and steel companies.
