MMK and Danieli will build new reheating furnaces at production site in Magnitogorsk
MAGNITOGORSK IRON & STEEL WORKS PJSC and DANIELI CENTRO COMBUSTION SPA concluded a contract for construction of four reheating furnaces for MMK’s hot rolling mill 2000. The project will be implemented by stages within five years, the overall contract price will exceed 100 million Euro.
The document was signed by Pavel Shilyaev, CEO of MMK, and Antonello Colussi, President of Danieli Russia. The signing ceremony was attended by Francesca Santoro, Fist Counsel of Italian Embassy in Moscow.
As per the contract Danieli, a leading Italian manufacturer for the steel industry, will supply key process equipment and provide supervision services for new reheating furnaces which will replace four existing ones in flat rolling shop No.10. The first furnace will be commissioned in 2023 and the fourth furnace in 2026.
Capacity of each reheating furnace will be 465 tons per hour. New generation burners will be used to significantly reduce emissions of NOx in atmosphere.
Owing to technical solutions of Danieli Centro Combustion the heating quality and reliability of equipment will significantly increase, and fuel consumption will be reduced. Energy saving will be up to 15%. Moreover, material yield will improve due to using state of the art flameless burners, advanced process control human machine interface and reheating optimization model.
Pavel Shilyaev, CEO of MMK, commented: “Today we have made another important step in implementing investment program of MMK aimed, in particular, at improving the quality of flat products produced. New technologies applied will allow to decrease OPEX and reduction of NOx emissions will significantly reduce the impact on the environment”.
“We highly appreciate the trust of MMK which has chosen Danieli to develop innovative green metallurgy technologies,” said Antonello Colussi, President of Danieli Russia. He also highlighted that construction of new reheating furnaces for MMK is a strategically important project which foresees application of best available technologies for production of high-quality products, ensures reduction of OPEX and is targeted at sustainability since it pays special attention to environment.
